KES to host CWA Fury School of Basketball
Fury Basketball Club and King Edward VII school to introduce a “School of Basketball”
With the Quest to fulfil the Olympic legacy in full flow and Basketball becoming the 3rd most played sport in the UK, KES School and Fury Basketball have announced a partnership that will see KES become a recognised “School of Basketball”.
James Bamfield Chairman of CWA Fury “We are delighted to announce this partnership as it really fills a key part of our development pathway. We have been working in the Primary schools for a number of years and have really grown the game at u11 level and with our Basketball Academy we cover 16 – 19 year olds. Adding a school of basketball to be able to really grab hold of kids between 11 and 16 years old is the final piece for us.”
Under the agreement Fury will provide top level coaching to pupils at KES during lunchtime and after school sessions. They also hope to provide more competitive opportunities and increase the participation in basketball at the school.
Ross McNeil Head of Boys PE “Basketball has seen an increase in interest over the past couple of years and we’ve recently introduced it to our curriculum. There is also a large interest from a lot of our Eastern European pupils for whom basketball is a way of life, much like football here. We hope that this agreement can see Basketball flourish at the school and at the same time strengthen the Fury club.”
